Phone home and forget the high street
There are so many places to go to buy mobile phones on the high street. They irritate the hell out of me, mainly because there is always some overly chirpy sales person ready to jump on me and try and sign me up for an 18 month contract lock in. My advice is to buy online all the time and you will never be disappointed…or feel like you’re being harassed.
It is online, not the high street, where I found a really good roaming advisor. ‘Abroadband.com'were able to offer me an amazing deal whereby I could travel anywhere in the world with my phone and play a flat rate on internet use. There were no questions asked, no harassment and no pages and pages of contracts to fill in. I got a fast, effective service and at no point did I feel like I was going to be jumped on or locked into an 18 month contract.
It’s a good time to update your mobile contract in any case. A report on the BBC website which appeared just two days ago, shows that roaming charges across the EU have been dropped again following the regulations that were brought in last year. Competition is now fierce between the mobile giants and if you go online you can find some great deals from all of them depending on what you want. They are all so busy trying to undercut the others on price, you could end up with a contract costing you less then £5 allowing you unlimited talk time at home and a massively reduced roaming fee for when you’re abroad.
Forget the high street. Buy your phone and contract online.
